Scholarships are offered by various organizations listed below. Applicants must pay attention to different deadlines for scholarships.

Please note that admission applications and scholarship applications are separate, except for scholarships offered by NYMU and ITRI. Applicants who win any scholarship award are NOT guaranteed a university entrance admission, and vice versa. Also, if applicants are chosen by more than one scholarship, he/she can choose one only

ITRI Scholarship

 

Cooperated by National Yang-Ming University and Industrial Technology Research Institute (Taiwan)

Objective
  This scholarship is sponsored by Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI, Taiwan) Also, it is target to encourage outstanding international graduate students to study in Taiwan and help them to find their career in Taiwan.
Award
 

Recipient receives scholarship NT$30,000 (US$910) per month.

Duration of Award:
 
  1. Master Program: Maximum 2 years

  2. Doctoral Program: Maximum 4 years

Obligation:
 
  1. Degree:Complete the degree of Master or Ph. D. degree within the term of the program.

  2. Internship:Take an internship during summer vacations at ITRI before completing his/her graduate program.

  3. Service Commitment:Serve at ITRI for maximum three years after graduation.

Eligibility
 

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Apply for the following programs of National Yang- Ming University
  • Microbiology and Immunology
  • BioMedical Informatics
  • Biophotonics
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
  • Oral Biology
  1. Is not an R.O.C. (Taiwan) national.
  2. Does not have the status of being an overseas compatriot student
  3. Is not a recipient of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by the Taiwan government or at any other educational institutions in Taiwan.
How to apply
 

When applying for the Degree study of Yang-Ming University, applicants just note it down in the application form(p.28) If the applicant qualified, he/she will be interviewed by the director of ITRI

Taiwan ICDF Scholarship

Overview
 
  1. The maximum duration of the scholarship
    1. Undergraduate (4 years)
    2. Master (2 years)
    3. PhD (3 years)

  2. Items of Scholarship covering
    1. ONE Return Tickets
    2. Accommodation Fees
    3. Tuition and School fees
    4. Textbook fees
    5. Allowance: Master program: NT $15,000, Doctoral program: NT$17,000
How to apply
 

The application has to pass through Taiwan Embassies in allied countries. Taiwan Embassies screen qualification of applicants first, and send qualified applicants to below universities participating inTaiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA), in consultation with TaiwanICDF.
Please also note two application forms need to be filled in. One for the applied program and the other for TaiwanICDF scholarship. TaiwanICDF scholarship application form can only be got at Taiwan Embassy.

Taiwan Scholarship

Funding Government Agencies of Taiwan Scholarships and their focuses

 
  1. The amount of each scholarship varies in accordance with the funding government agency’s policy
  2. MOFA Scholarship: One economy-class, direct-route roundtrip international airfare, plus a monthly stipend of NT$30,000 (approximately US$882)
  3. MOE Scholarship: A monthly stipend of NT$25,000 (approximately US$735) for undergraduate or LEP study, and NT$30,000 for a postgraduate degree program.
  4. NSC Scholarship: A monthly stipend of NT$30, 000.
  5. MOEA Scholarship: A monthly stipend of NT$30, 000. Recipients are responsible for their own expenses
  The award period for each degree/study program is as follows:
 
  1. Undergraduate program: maximum 4 years.
  2. Master’s program: maximum 2 years.
  3. Doctoral program: maximum 3 years
